Rick has taught at all levels and currently teaches from beginners through to advanced students, he has taught Saxophone and tutored ensembles at many schools including Double Bay Public, Sydney Boys High School, Manly Selective Campus, Cranbrook and East Lindfield Public. His method encourages students to develop their aural skills with ear training and lots of listening to good music, regular practice of the instrument and an enjoyment of the art.
Rick Robertson has been a professional musician for over 35 years touring, performing and recording with many great names in the music industry including Margaret Urlich, Kate Ceberano, Human Nature, The catholics, dig (directions in groove), Eon Beats and Renee Geyer to mention just a few. He has performed all over the world from funky clubs in Berlin and New York to the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Big Day Out.
He has awards including a gold record and APRA awards to his name and has a Batchelors Degree and an Associate Diploma of Jazz Studies from the Sydney Conservatorium of music. He has studied with Mike Nock, Don Burrows, George Golla, Bart Stokes, Judy Bailey and Roger Frampton.
Rick is a registered teacher with the Australian Music Education Board and teaches AMEB grades, Theory, Improvisation and Harmony.
